FAQ
These are the things customers ask before they commit, answered the way we would answer them on a call. Where the honest answer is “it depends”, we say what it depends on rather than giving a number that will not survive contact with your project.
Who we are
Are you a factory?
No. ApplianceChain is an on-site appliance industry partner based in Shunde, Foshan, Guangdong. We do not own production lines and we do not manufacture under our own name. The factories remain independent production parties, and they are named to you.
Are you a trading company?
We are not a catalogue reseller. Our role is on-site coordination: matching your brief to lines that build the category well, qualifying them against your project, and staying involved while the order runs. You know which factory makes your product.
Can you work with a supplier I already use?
Often yes. Where you already have a factory, our role can be limited to on-site coordination and the checks on a specific order. Ask us and we will tell you whether it is worth doing in your case.
Where exactly are you based?
Shunde, in Foshan, Guangdong — inside one of China’s densest clusters for small household appliances. Being able to reach a line, a tooling shop or a test house the same day is the practical reason we sit here.
Qualification and checks
How do you qualify a manufacturing resource?
We check fit against the brief, legal and manufacturing scope, process evidence, sample performance and the requirements of your target market. The depth of each check is defined per project.
Is that the same as a factory audit?
No. Qualification is project-specific coordination, not an accredited factory audit. If your compliance process needs a formal audit, we will say so and help you arrange it separately.
What do you actually check during production?
Agreed checkpoints during the run, rather than a single inspection at the end: incoming materials against the approved bill of materials, in-process assembly and line testing, and a pre-shipment check against the approved reference. The scope is agreed before the order.
Will I get records, or just an opinion?
Records. Each one names the factory, the model, the issuer and the validity of what is shown, so you can compare one order against the next instead of relying on a claim.
Certification and compliance
Can you guarantee certifications?
No. Certification is factory-, product-, model- and market-specific. We coordinate the document checks and, where required, independent testing — but third parties issue the original reports.
Who applies, pays and holds the certificate?
That is agreed in writing before testing begins, because it determines who can reuse the approval later. It is negotiable and worth settling early rather than discovering after the test.
Can an existing certificate be reused for my product?
Sometimes, and only if it covers the same factory, model and market. Transferability is not assumed — confirm it with the issuing body before you rely on it.
MOQ, pricing and lead time
What is your MOQ?
There is no honest universal number. A mature platform with cosmetic changes carries a different minimum than a product needing new tooling. We give the MOQ for your specific configuration as part of the quotation.
How long does it take?
Lead time is confirmed per project. It depends on whether an existing platform fits, whether tooling is required, the test house queue, component availability and season. We give stage-by-stage dates rather than a single promise.
What payment and Incoterms apply?
Confirmed per order and per shipment. They depend on the order size, the route and the destination, and they are agreed in writing before you commit.
Samples, production and orders
How do you keep the sample and mass production aligned?
The approved sample becomes a written reference: a technical data sheet, a change record and defined production checkpoints, closed out with a shipment release record. If something has to change, it is raised before it reaches your order rather than found in the inspection report.
Can you support private label and OEM projects?
Yes. Private label starts from a mature platform and focuses on branding and packaging. OEM is used when function, structure or appearance must change, and it needs a controlled development path.
What happens if a defect is found after shipment?
The pre-shipment report and batch photographs become the basis for the discussion, which is why we insist on them. Resolution depends on the agreed terms for your order — worth settling before you confirm.
Working with us
What happens after I send a brief?
We review product scope, target market, quantity and timing, then reply with the missing questions and a practical next step. No quotation is treated as final until the key assumptions are written down.
How quickly do you reply?
During working hours, China time (GMT+8). Messages sent outside those hours are answered on the next working day.
Do you share my brief with factories?
Only the parts a factory needs in order to quote, and we tell you what is being shared and with whom. Your details are not sold or published. See the Privacy Policy.
What if Shunde is the wrong answer for my product?
We would rather say so in the first reply than let you spend three months finding out. Not every category is strong here, and a good cluster does not make an unworkable brief workable.
