Shunde Appliance Cluster

Why we sit inside the Shunde appliance cluster

Shunde, in Foshan, Guangdong, is one of China’s densest clusters for small household appliances. Density is only useful if someone is standing in it. This page explains what the cluster is genuinely good at, where it is not the right answer, and what changes when your coordinator can reach the line the same day.

01

What the cluster is

Shunde is a district of Foshan in Guangdong, and it has been shaped by appliance manufacturing for decades. Assembly lines, component suppliers, tooling shops and test houses sit close enough together that a product problem can often be walked to.

That geography is the reason we are based here rather than coordinating remotely. It does not make factories interchangeable — capability varies enormously within a few kilometres — but it does mean that questions get answers while they are still cheap.

02

What it builds well

Personal care
Hair care appliances

Hair dryers, stylers and curlers — categories where motor control, airflow and noise are the real differentiators.

Air care
Fans and air treatment

Tower fans, bladeless designs, purifying units — mature platforms with room for cosmetic and functional variation.

Kitchen
Small kitchen appliances

A category we treat carefully: platform maturity and market compliance vary more here, so we start from your brief rather than a catalogue.

03

The supply chain around it

The useful part of a cluster is not the assembly line, it is everything feeding it. Tooling and mould making, plastic injection, metal parts, motors, heating elements, electronics, packaging and printing are all within reach. That is what makes a change feasible mid-project instead of a six-week detour.

Why this matters to you

When a component is discontinued, or a tolerance turns out to be wrong, the difference between a one-week fix and a two-month delay is usually whether the alternative supplier is an hour away.

04

What being on site changes

1
Substitutions get seen early

A component swap is noticed while it can still be reversed, not when cartons are sealed.

2
Tooling decisions get checked before they are cut

A drawing is cheaper to change than a mould.

3
Answers arrive the same day

Photographs, measurements and a straight answer from the line, rather than a promise by email.

4
Repeat orders stay comparable

The same people checking the same way means batch two can be measured against batch one.

05

Where Shunde is not the answer

A strong cluster is not a substitute for a workable brief. We would rather say this in the first reply than let you discover it three months in.

Categories that need a different base

Some products are simply better made elsewhere in China. If that is the case for yours, we will tell you rather than force a fit.

Factories that are not export-ready

Being in Shunde does not make a line capable of meeting your market’s documentation, labelling or consistency requirements. That is checked, not assumed.

Volumes below what a line will take

Small first orders can be hard to place on lines built for volume. Usually there is a workable route, but it should be discussed honestly at the start.

Compliance that cannot be shortcut

No cluster makes a test house queue move faster. Certification timing is set by the issuing body and your market.

06

If you travel here

Customers are welcome to come and see the lines themselves. If you are planning a trip, tell us the dates and what you want to achieve, and we will arrange the agenda with the factories so the visit produces decisions rather than photographs.

We are in Shunde, Foshan, Guangdong. Guangzhou and Shenzhen airports are both reachable, and we will advise on the route once we know your timing.

Ask whether your product belongs here

Send the product and the market. We will tell you if Shunde builds it well, and if not, what would be a better route.

We reply in working hours, China time (GMT+8).
